Brand, Store, and Visibility for UV Protect – Sun Protection for Outdoor Professions
People who work outdoors—in construction, landscaping, road construction, or agriculture—are exposed to significantly higher levels of UV radiation over the course of their working lives than others. Drawing on in-depth expertise in radiation protection, the idea was born to help these very people with professional sun protection gear featuring UPF 50+: caps with neck protection, sun hats, arm sleeves, and helmet attachments.
A clear vision becomes a brand with substance
By 2019, a clear market opportunity had turned into a concrete business idea. Together, we created the brand UV Protect together: naming, wordmark, color palette, and typography—and, building on that, the WooCommerce store, which remains the foundation of the business to this day. The timing was no coincidence. Sun protection in the workplace was just beginning to receive more attention in Switzerland, and employers were being held more accountable for providing UV protection to their employees. From the very beginning, we positioned the brand right where this demand was emerging: not as a leisure sun hat, but as personal protective equipment (PPE).
Seven years later: The brand is right, but visibility is lacking
In 2026, we returned to the project—this time with a different task. The store was up and running, the product lineup had grown, but search results weren’t driving sales. Product descriptions had simply accumulated over the years rather than being carefully crafted; product names were referred to internally by different names than those used in searches; and while several pages ranked well, they weren’t getting clicks because their titles and descriptions in Google’s search results weren’t compelling enough.
Our approach was accordingly pragmatic and structured:
Keyword Reality Over Wishful Thinking. Based on Search Console data, we’ve identified what people in Switzerland are actually searching for: “sun hat with neck protection,” “cap with neck protection,” “UV-protective sleeves.” Not technical jargon, but everyday language.
"The key wasn’t more text, but choosing the right words: What people search for on Google is rarely the language that security officers and buyers use to make decisions. Our goal was to bring both sides together.»

Products were renamed and their descriptions rewritten. For twelve products, we completely redesigned the names, SEO titles, meta descriptions, and short and long descriptions—tailored to the needs of safety officers and buyers, not sun worshippers. Every rating was thoroughly tested for reliability: UPF 50+ according to AS/NZS 4399 instead of vague UV claims, “developed in Switzerland” instead of “Made in Switzerland” where that isn’t accurate.
Industry-specific landing pages instead of street vendor’s trays. “Sun Protection in the Construction Industry” is the first page created that directly addresses a specific industry—including a clear explanation of the regulatory framework: The responsibility lies with the employer, and that’s exactly why the right equipment is available.
Technical Foundation. Structured product data, corrected schema markup, Google Merchant Center, presence on sapros.ch.
The Result
160% more orders from organic search compared to the same period last year—verifiably driven by search engine clicks.
During the current season (the last three months), uvprotect.ch recorded 1,348 clicks and 27,595 impressions on Google Search. A comparison with the same period last year shows the impact of our efforts:
- +199% clicks – from 450 to 1,348
- +120% impressions —from 12,546 to 27,595
- CTR rose from 3.6% to 4.9% —the new snippets are working
- Ø Ranking improved from 15 to 9.9
The work on the product snippets is particularly noticeable: 615 clicks from 12,764 impressions come from enriched product search results—results that simply wouldn’t exist without clean, structured data.
And further
Sun protection is a highly seasonal topic, with peak demand from April through September. That’s why we work off-season to develop clear category pages, industry-specific landing pages, and multilingual visibility, so that our offerings are visible before demand picks up again.
